The Wrong Church

The Wrong Church

A minister was approached by a man who expressed a desire to become a member of the church. The man said, “However, I don’t want to be called on for any service, such as visitation or teaching a class. I would like to be spared from anything that would take up my time, like, working with the youth or helping anyone with church activities. Then, too, don’t expect me to be at worship services every Sunday or Wednesday night Bible study. And when I do attend, my giving will be small, as I have bills to pay each month.”

The minister thought for a moment and replied. “I believe you are at the wrong church. The church you are looking for is three blocks down the street.” He followed the preacher’s directions and soon came to an old abandoned, boarded up church building, it was a dead church, as a result of too many members like this man. A church without active members is a dead church, and the kind of religion that doesn’t cost us in time and money is a dead religion.

James 2:20: “But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead.”
