Parents Obey Your Father

“Parents Obey Your Father”

The Elders understand how important our youth are to the Church. We also know the world that they live in and how it can lead them down a road to destruction. So for that reason, we have hired Brother Ahren Steis to help the church and parents to strengthen our children’s spiritual lives. It is up to the parents to take responsibility to help your child go to heaven. It takes time, attention and biblical insight. It is about being there for your children and being a faithful Christian parent. Paul’s admonition to children in Ephesians 6:1, must be taught by their parents.

Sadly, many children are left to raise themselves by TV, electronics and social media. They are plugged into the social engineering of a godless pop culture where adolescent sex symbols are encouraged and the popular TV sitcoms represent a lifestyle of self-indulgence.

In Eph. 6:1, the apostle wrote, “Children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right.” But in this day and time the parents need to remember to “Obey Your Father.” Paul also taught that God’s domestic arrangement involves a special role for parents…authority in action. They must provide instruction and correction, training their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Eph. 6:4, Matt. 15:19). When parents are not parents, children still grow up, but their spiritual development is compromised.

This spiritual quality is taught by parents who:
1. Give clear expectations, some of which are morally inflexible.
2. Provide consequences to disobedience that is fair and clear.
3. Show consistent follow-through with rewards and punishment.
4. Demonstrate a concrete example in that parents themselves are obedient to the Lord.
Ahren and his wife Melissa can’t raise your children in such a way that will ensure they will go to
heaven, that’s the job of the parent. But with your help and cooperation they can be a BIG HELP.
