THEY GIVE ME STRENGTH

THEY GIVE ME STRENGTH

Self-help books are in abundant supply. Libraries are full of them. Book stores have major sections dedicated to Self-Help. One of most popular is How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. Another best seller is Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Solomon wrote, “And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh” (Ecc. 12:12). That last statement is stated by most students in the spring time of the year just before graduation.

There is one book that is never out of date, and it comes from the one who made us; and thus, knows what is in man and the needs of man. That book is The Holy Bible, the inspired word of God. The following passages, from the Bible, always give me strength:

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Gal. 6:9).
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Rom. 8:28).
“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 8:37-39).
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” (Phil. 4:13).
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Phil 4:19).

God is always in control, and knowing that should give every Christian strength. So don’t be weary in well doing. Remember this verse, “In whom also we were made a heritage, having been foreordained according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his will” (Eph. 1:11, ASV).
