WHO WILL STAND AGAINST EVIL NOW?

WHO WILL STAND AGAINST EVIL NOW?

On January 24, 1965 Sir Winston Churchill, Prime Minster of Great Britain in the forties and fifties died. Recently there were commemorations of the fiftieth anniversary of his death. Writer Clark Durant, attended one of these services and wrote an article about it. The following is taken from that article:

“He will be remembered as the man chosen in May 1940 to lead the defense of Britain when it stood alone against Adolf Hitler. The shattering retreat of 300,000 British forces from Dunkirk was yet to come. France would surrender in June, Belgium, Denmark and Holland, too. Austria, Poland and Czechoslovakia were already gone. Europe was under the boot of a man who sought to destroy freedom and the dignity of every person. America stood on the sidelines at first. Yet, enemies in Germany, Italy and Japan grew in strength and resolve. But, there was the last lion. Churchill said to the House of Commons: “What is our policy? It is to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us, to wage war against a monstrous tyranny, never surpassed in the dark, lamentable catalogue of human crime. … What is our aim? I can answer in one word: It is victory, victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror … however long and hard the road may be. For without victory, there is no survival.” (Clark Durant, Detroit Free Press).

Our Christian values are under assault today. Humanism, Atheism, Political Correctness along with countless other “isms” are striving to undermine the sacredness of the Holy Bible. Many in our own government are participating in the efforts to destroy the influence of Christians in our country as well as others. Under the guise of Freedom of Religion, Islam is being promoted while Christianity is being stripped of its influence. Judges are making laws and interpreting the Constitution to destroy the effect of righteousness. Who will stand? Those of us who are Christian must do so.

Paul wrote, “ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints” (Eph. 6:10-18).

Every Christian must be strong to stand against the evil that is perpetrated upon our world. We cannot stand on the sidelines.
