What Crucified Christ?
Ignorance played a part in putting Christ upon the cross (Acts 3:17). God no longer winks at ignorance (Acts 17:30). We must know (Jn.8:32), love and believe (II Thes. 2:10-12), and obey the truth to be saved (I Pet.1:22). Hatred had a part (Jn.7). They hated Christ because their works were evil (Jn.3:19).
Men still hinder the truth today out of hatred. This crucifies Christ afresh. Betrayal by Judas for thirty pieces of silver put Christ on the cross (Mt.26:24-25, 47-50). There are Judases today who still betray Christ for various things which puts Christ on the cross afresh. Those who crucified Jesus Christ were envious (Mt.27:18), Religious envy hindered the growth of the church in the first century (Acts 13:44-45).
This is also a problem today that crucifies Christ afresh, since many have loyalty to a party or a creed rather than to Christ. Lies played another key role (Mt.26:59-60). There are still those who tell false things about Christ now (II Pet.2:1-3; Mt.7:15). Such will not endure sound doctrine (II Tim.4:3), and their worship is vain Mt.15:9). Are we being the kind of Christians today that we ought to be?
