They Said it Would
The meteorologist said it was going to snow. They had all kinds of
graphics and patterns showing the path of the snow storm that
was to hit. Yes, a time or two they wavered and said it could be a
dusting or it may go more south. Regardless of how you accept it –
it was going to snow. And it did! Apparently businesses,
government entities and school administrators didn’t believe it.
These didn’t begin to close until the ground/roadways were almost
covered. Now Superintendents, the Governor and the Mayor are
in hot water (or deep snow) because many people folks spent
hours getting home, some as many as 24 hours on the Atlanta
highways, school children had to spend the night at school or on
school buses.
Voters are yelling! Why were you not prepared? I probably would
be too had I been stuck for hours on 285 or spent several hours
trying to get home. OK, but hold on just a second, there is an
application here. The Bible has some predictions and warnings.
The Bible warns that there is a hell (Mt. 25:31-46; Lk. 16:19-31).
The Bible continues to tell us over and over that Christ shall
return (1 Thess. 4:13-18; Rev. 22:20; Acts 1:8). The scriptures
warn of the wages of sin (Rom. 6:23). Preachers and elders warn:
If you don’t bring up your children in the nurture and admonition of
the Lord (Eph. 6:1-4) you will lose them to the devil. Well, preacher I
will be ready. When?
If you don’t repent you will perish (Lk. 13:3). You reply, “I have
plenty of time.”
If you are not baptized for the remission of your sins you will be lost
(Acts 2:38). Oh, but I know another way. Yes, take the back roads
in a snow storm and you get stuck with no one to help you.
If you are not faithful to your Lord you will lose your children, your
spouse and your soul (Jam. 4:17). Preacher, I just don’t believe in
all this hellfire and brimstone stuff.
You will reap what you sow (Gal. 6:7-8). Oh no, not me, I’m special.
They said it would snow and it did. God’s word reminds us, “For
yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a
thief in the night” (1 Thess. 5:2).
