“THE GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE”
Outside the city walls of Jerusalem stood Gethsemane, a most beautiful Olive Orchard. Sometimes referred to as the garden of Gethsemane, it served as a place of peace where Jesus and his disciples often prayed. Gethsemane also provided a solemn place of decision making for our Lord when He faced severe anxiety and pressure.
The word Gethsemane literally means “oil-press.” In this garden olives were harvested and then squeezed under tremendous pressure in a large stone press. This process produced the precious oil that provided fuel for light, salves for healing wounds and nourishment for the body. In Gethsemane, Jesus was press between His immediate desire to escape the agony of pain and the Father will for Him to save mankind on the cross. His blood lights our way, heals our sinful wounds and nourishes our hungry souls.
When you find yourself in a Gethsemane, do as the Lord did. Pray and accept the Father’s will. Healing will come from spending time in prayer
Matthew 26:36
Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.”
