“OF WHAT ARE THEY AFRAID?”
If you want to see a denominational person panic, mention baptism for the remission of sins. The hair on the nap of the neck rises and darts start flowing out of their eyes. It’s almost like waving a Bible in front of an atheist. Have you ever observed that the two outward displays taught in the Bible which reflect the precious blood of Christ are rejected by denominationalism?
One is baptism for the remission of sins. There is absolutely no doubt about what the Bible teaches. Peter, on the day of Pentecost, when ask, “…Men and brethren, what shall we do” (Acts 2:37)? The scriptures say, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost” (Acts 2:38). How much more clear can you get than that? Be baptized? Why? “For the remission of sin.” Baptism saves (1 Peter 3:21). It is through baptism that one comes into contact with the blood of Jesus (Rom. 6:1-4). The gospel is the death, burial and resurrection of Christ (1Cor. 15:1-4) and that is obeyed by being baptized. Denominationalism rejects that. The one thing that puts one into contact with the blood of Jesus Christ, baptism, they reject. No, no, no, no you don’t need to be baptized to be saved, so they say. Of what are they afraid?
The second thing that denominationalist reject that exemplifies the blood of Christ, is the Lord’s Supper. Jesus taught, “And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins” (Mt. 26:26-28). We know the disciples partook of the Lord’s Supper on the first day of the week (Acts 20:7). Paul gave detailed instruction as to the Lord’s Supper in the first Corinthian letter (1 Cor. 11:17-34). The denominational world says, “Oh, we’ll take it, but not too often. How about a couple of times a year? Maybe four?” Yet, they make sure they take up a collection weekly, or even daily. Is their heart on the money or the blood of Christ? Of what are they afraid?
Every time a person is baptized for the remission of sins it recognizes the blood of Christ, “For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many, for the remission of sins” (Mt. 26:28). Every time we partake of the Lord’s Supper, “We do show the Lord’s death till he come” (1 Cor. 11:26).
To reject baptism for the remission of sins and to fail to partake of the Lord’s Supper weekly rejects the precious blood of Jesus Christ.
Of what are denominationalist afraid?
