ON BULLYING
Bullying has become a major problem in our society today. Lithia Springs has been especially touched because of the death of Bobby Tillman. “A fight on a Pennsylvania playground led to the death of a 12-year-old boy.” It was reported on March 5th that Baily O’Neill was taken off life support, the day after his 12th birthday. “Bailey’s father says two bullies attacked his son on a playground near Philadelphia. Bailey suffered from a concussion and seizures. He was in a medically-induced coma for two weeks.”
Through social media many young people are bullied even to the point of suicide. This program is designed to alert parents and young people. Its purpose is to show them the way through the word of God. Remember the words of Jesus, “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets” (Mt. 7:12). While we know that an hour and half program will not solve the problem it is our prayer that it will help parents and young people know how to respond when confronted with bullying.
Parents must stay close to their children. Know what is going on in their life. Watch the computer use. Check their Facebook page. Know their friends. Above all, give them good spiritual training by bringing them to Bible School on Sunday and Wednesday, by having family devotionals. Buy and read the book, Game Plan by Joe Wells.
