I’M NOT WEARY!
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” (Gal. 6:9). If you would let yourself you could really feel like giving up! The world is against Christianity! It seems that sins such as, homosexuality, living together outside of marriage and apathy has taken over. Wait! Wait! Paul said, “And let us not be weary….” So how do you avoid worry, bitterness and despondency? Look at the facts! Here is why you should be encouraged rather than discouraged.
One, “But there is a God in heaven” (Dan. 2:28). “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” (Gen. 1:1). The writer of Hebrews teaches us that “He that cometh to God must believe that he is…” (Heb. 11:6). In 1897, a lady by the name of Jessie B. Pounds did not feel like going to church. While her husband of only a few weeks was gone she wrote the song, “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” and this is the first verse of the song:
“Somewhere the sun is shining,
Somewhere the songbirds dwell;
Hush, then, thy sad repining,
God lives, and all is well.”
Two, “…The most High ruleth in the kingdom of men…” (Dan. 4:17). Solomon declared that, “Righteousness exalteth a nation; but sin is a reproach to any people” (Prov. 14:34). David wrote, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance” (Ps. 33:12). Never underestimate the power of God, which is why we must be diligent in prayer. God is not dead! He rules! David said, “God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her and that right early” (Ps. 46:5).
Three, “…I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Heb. 13:5). No need to be weary when you have God promising to be with you and never forsaking you.
So remember, “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine” (Pr. 17:22).
