“Freedom”
The freedom we derive from God has a direct bearing not only spiritually but also physically. Just as surely as those who ignore God’s word are doomed, so those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. Freedom is not free! Freedom came at a high cost to this country. Of the cosigners of the Declaration of Independence, many of them gave their lives and most of them lost their fortunes in the battle for
freedom.
Indeed, the truth of our Lord’s word sets us free (John 8:31-32), but there was a great price to be paid for Jesus to tell the truth. America and America’s freedom is founded upon God and God’s word, the Bible. America’s freedom is therefore dependent upon it! This was proclaimed by our founding fathers.
George Washington: “It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection, aid and favors.”
Patrick Henry: “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians, not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ! For this very reason, peoples of other
faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity and freedom of worship here.”
Daniel Webster: “Our ancestors established their system of government on morality and religious sentiment. Moral habits, they believed, cannot safely be trusted on any other foundation than religious principle, nor any government is secure which is not supported by moral habits. Living under the heavenly light of revelation, they hoped to find all the social dispositions, all the duties which men owe to each other and to society, enforced and performed.
Whatever makes man good Christians make them good citizens.” If we intend to keep our freedom in America, we must turn back to the word of God, which is the Bible!
