After all odds are against him, he still finds a way to win. Everyone likes to watch and admire the determination of the “underdog,” as he comes from behind to win the fight in the end. Just as David was not seen as a worthy opponent in his bout against Goliath.
However, God was on his side. We must “fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses” (I Tim.6:12). We are to use the armor provided by God for this fight (Eph.6:10-17).
God supplies the weapons, but are we willing to use them? Even though the underdog may have not looked like he had a chance to win, the same cannot be said about the Christian. Our Captain, Jesus Christ, has never lost a fight (Heb.2:10)! Therefore, we must fight on, to gain eternal life.
