COULD YOU EVER?
Some Christians(?) find it very easy to miss the worship assembly Sunday morning and evening, miss Wednesday night Bible study, never give consistently while others never miss a service or miss giving liberally to the work of the Lord. To those of you who are faithful in your service, here are some questions:
Could you ever get use to not attending all the services of the church (Heb. 10:25)?
Could you ever get use to not giving liberally (2 Cor. 8-9)?
Could you ever get use to not supporting the work of the Lord (1 Cor. 15:58)?
The answer to these questions is yes! But how? The devil is shrewd. “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Pet.5:8). Haven’t we once known folks who grew up in the church or who were faithful to the kingdom and then over time drifted away from the body of Christ?
The devil has a vast tool box of effective instruments to use. It may be work, sickness, family problems, ongoing health issues; prosperity that causes us to move away from God just a little at a time then all of sudden a person wakes up and discovers they have drifted far away from God. How do you come back?
1. Make a decision. The prodigal made a decision. “I will arise and go to my father…” (Lk. 15:18).
2. Draw neigh to God. “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded” (James 4:8).
3. Repent. “Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent…” (Rev. 2:5).
Better yet…don’t drift away, stay close.
