Amusement

Amusement

Think about the word “amusement” for a moment. Do you know what the word really means? The word “muse” means to think. When you put an “A” in front of the word it means the opposite. “Amuse” literally means “not to think”. An amusement is something you can do without thinking.

We need to be very careful what we are exposing our minds to while we are being “amused,” because the tendency is to not think about it.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things” (Philippians 4:8).
