Abraham The Friend Of God
Abraham is the only person to have received the title “The Friend of God” (Jam.2:23; II Chron.20:7; Isa.41:8). What were some of his qualities for such a title? He believed God (Jam.2:23; Heb.11:8-9,17).
Faith is a part of the plan of salvation (Heb.11:6); but it is not the whole of it, because man can believe and be lost (John 12:42-43; Jam.2:17-26). He obeyed God. When he was told to go into another country, he went (Heb.11:8). When he was commanded to offer Isaac, he did (Heb.11:17).
We must obey God to be saved (Mt.7:21-23; Heb.5:9; Rev.22:14). Abraham feared God (Gen.22:12). Man’s whole duty is to fear God and keep His commandments (Ecc.12:13). He had a deep concern for the lost (Gen.18:16-33). Every Christian should feel a responsibility to the lost so that they may be saved (Rom.1:14-16).
There are no half friends with God (Mt.6:24; 12:30; Jam.4:4). We can also be the friends of God (Jn.15:14). Are you a friend of God today?
