A Great Decision
It is essential to make decisions from day to day. Decision-making could be small, in that, we may want to decide on whether to comb our hair or eat breakfast. Every day we are faced with decisions.
Through the Scriptures, there are those who had to make a decision to follow God or not, which is still occurring today. The rich young ruler was one such person. Luke records, “And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” (Luke 18:18).
Christ then began to tell him about a decision that the young ruler had to make if he wanted to follow Him. “Yet lackest thou one thing; sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me” (Luke 18:22). “When he heard this, he was very sorrowful, for he was very rich” (Luke 18:23). The man let himself get in the way of his own question. Are we letting ourselves get in front of doing what God commands? We must take what we think is best out of the picture, and look to the Word to see what God says is best. What kind of decisions are we making today?
