IF
There are many “ifs” in life, and there are many “ifs” in religion. “If” is conditional or shows a positive or usually a negative consequence. The Lord will deny us, IF we deny Him (II Tim.2:12; Mt.10:33).
The apostle Peter wrote, “…IF ye do these things, ye shall never fail” (II Pet.1:10). A Christian can fall (I Cor.10:12; Heb.3:12; Gal.5:4), but it can be prevented IF we do certain things.
“IF we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin” (I Jn.1:7). Christ shedding His blood is not enough to cleanse us (Heb.2:9). Our desire to be cleansed is not enough. We must walk in the light, IF we are cleansed. (Jn.8:12; Psa.119:105). “And hereby we do know him, IF we keep his commandments” (I Jn.2:3). This is the way we prove our faith (Jam.2:18).
