THE REVILING OF CHRISTIANS

“THE REVILING OF CHRISTIANS”

Jesus said, “Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake” (Mt. 5:11). Strong’s Concordance gives the following meaning: “oneidízō (from a primitive root meaning “to upbraid, revile, like in showing one’s teeth,” K. Wuest) – properly, to disgrace (insult).”

Other definitions use the word “insult”. Insulting Christians has been going on in this United States of America for several years. Those who support and encourage homosexuality, same sex unions and the transgender generation are constantly hurling stones at the Christian community. Bible believing folks have been called homophobes, intolerantant unloving, people haters, etc.

Scriptures are plain regarding the sin of homosexuality and lesbianism (Lev. 18:22; Rom. 1:18-32; 1 Cor.6:9-11). God created us male and female (Gen. 1:27). If one doesn’t believe the Bible, these scriptures mean nothing; but to those of us who do believe in The Holy Word of God, it motivates us to stand for the truths of the Bible and against anything that violates those truths.

Leaders in our federal and state governments have denounced Christianity. The Supreme Court in its recent decision to endorse same sex unions, the governor of Georgia in his veto of a bill that would protect Christians, has shown their complete disregard for Christianity and the Bible. Pray for North Carolina because they are being threatened unmercifully because of the recent law, approved by both houses and signed by the governor, which says, “North Carolina’s Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act, which will force public colleges and universities (as well as other public venues and government buildings) to require their restrooms be used only by people whose biological sex at birth matches the sign on the door.” Isn’t it weird that for 240 years this has not been a problem in our country but now a minority segment of our society has said you must bow to our wishes and government and businesses are cow-towing to their demands.

Here is what all are forgetting, “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people” (Prov. 14:34). Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work” (2 Cor. 9:8). Let these companies spend millions moving out of a state because the state doesn’t bow to them……God knows how to move other companies in. If our nations and our states will exalt God and His will, they will prosper.

If all those who believe the Bible and want to stand up for righteousness move to Mississippi and North Carolina, they would have a booming economy and the companies that moved would never be missed. The Christian will be reviled, persecuted and spoken against but Jesus said, “Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you” (Mt. 5:12).
